Assessment & Progress

The International Montessori School uniquely combines three fundamental educational methods, with the Montessori Methodology and Pedagogy at the heart of everything we do:

  • The American Common Core standard.
  • The Spanish curriculum, approved by the Junta de Andalucía.
  • Project-based learning: this method challenges the student to become the leading character in their own learning by tackling projects which answer real-life problems. This approach develops independence and a desire to learn more.

The school is a member of the Spanish Montessori Society, and has applied for accreditation from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). It is licensed by Junta de Andalucia as a Centro de Enseñanza extranjera de educación infantil y primaria, and follows the language standards as laid down by them, as well as using the American Common Core curriculum. This curriculum is delivered using Montessori materials and methods and  Montessori guides monitor the individual progress of each child in their classroom and introduce them to new concepts when they are ready. By using this unique observation process, they can assess the progress of each child and report directly to parents each week via a communication app.
