Our educators teach from the heart, guiding each child with respect, warmth, and passion for their vocation. We believe in every child’s potential and work as a united community to provide a consistent, human-centered, and transformative educational experience.
Preparation for Life
We nurture autonomy, empathy, critical thinking, and respect for oneself and others.
Beyond academic content, we guide each child to discover their purpose, face challenges with confidence, and develop real tools to live with awareness, integrity, and responsibility.
We believe that education is not only about what children know, but about who they become. Because learning is also learning how to live.

Educational Stages

Nido & Infant Community
We accompany our youngest children from their very first discoveries. In Nido (0–18 months) and Infant Community (18 months–3 years), we offer a safe, warm, and thoughtfully prepared environment that feels like a second home. Here, children learn at their own pace, building confidence, developing language and motor skills, and growing in autonomy through love and respect.

Children’s House
This stage is essential for cultivating a love of learning. In the Children’s House (ages 3–6), every material, space, and guide is thoughtfully designed to help children explore, express themselves, and grow in confidence, respect, and focus. They learn to read, write, count, and interact naturally in an environment where they feel valued, supported, and deeply respected in their individual journey.

Lower and Upper Elementary
In this stage (LE: ages 6–9 and UE: ages 9–12), children begin to expand their view of the world and develop more abstract, critical, and creative thinking. Students dive deeper into subjects such as math, language, science, art, and history through hands-on learning and project-based work. Respect, independence, and collaboration remain core values, allowing each child to develop their identity and build strong self-confidence.
Our Pedagogical Approach

International Montessori School (IMS) in Sotogrande offers an educational model that integrates the Montessori methodology with both international (NEASC, AMI) and national (Junta de Andalucía) educational programs, providing a comprehensive and bilingual education in English and Spanish.
Our approach is not solely focused on academics—it is centered on the child. We support self-motivation and a lifelong love of learning. Rather than following a fixed schedule, we adapt to each child’s interests and passions, allowing lessons to meet their current stage and propel them to the next level. This individualized approach helps students find success and joy in learning, instead of frustration or boredom. We empower the child to self-construct within a carefully prepared environment, guided by trained Montessori professionals. Our mission is to help each child unlock their full potential so they can navigate an ever-changing world with self-respect, integrity, and self-awareness.

Being a Student at IMS
Being a student at International Montessori School (IMS) means much more than simply attending a school. It means becoming part of an educational community that believes in you, respects your individuality, and walks beside you as you discover who you are and all you are capable of becoming.
