A Message from Our Director, Olimpia
IMS was founded five years ago with a clear purpose: to place the focus on the child. For us, each student is a seed with unique potential, and our role is to nurture it with the tools, values, and skills necessary for them to grow with confidence and commitment, becoming a global citizen who is aware of their role in society.
We have set ourselves the goal of becoming a reference in Montessori education and the first International School in the Campo de Gibraltar to merge this pedagogy with both international and national educational programmes. In this way, we ensure that our students receive a holistic education that goes beyond the academic and becomes education for life.
Personalised teaching and teamwork between teacher and family are the two fundamental pillars of our method, helping each child to become a young person who knows themselves, who understands their strengths, and who has the ability to think and freely choose how to put those strengths at the service of the common good.

As Maria Montessori said, “Free the child’s potential, and you will transform him into the world”—and that, precisely, is our mission as a school: to provide an authentic and contemporary Montessori learning experience in which each child is respected in their uniqueness and can flourish at their own pace, discovering their passion and unfolding their full potential.
We are committed to cultivating minds that are not only academically prepared but also equipped with the emotional and social skills necessary to navigate a constantly changing world, as well as a set of values that will serve as their compass:
- Flexibility to adapt to change
- Love of learning and continuous improvement
- Respect for individual differences
- Collaboration and teamwork
- Effort and perseverance
We also promote research and project-based learning to help our students develop skills such as searching for and selecting relevant information, critical thinking, teamwork, communication, and public speaking—skills that will prepare them to face the challenges the future may bring.
We would like to share some moments from our recent participation in Open Science Cambre 2025, a science fair where the Antarctica Project, led by our teacher Palma García Hormigo and carried out by the Taller 2 students, was chosen to be presented.

It was an unforgettable experience in which some of the invited students stayed with host families, helped set up the stands, and shared with all the visitors—children, families, and teachers from other schools—the knowledge they had acquired on this subject. On this trip, I was able to see first-hand that the purpose for which IMS was born is now a consolidated reality—something that could be clearly experienced and lived at every moment of this journey full of learning.
